Fujitsu Next Generation Cloud Research Alliance Laboratories (FCRAL) were established at Cybermedia Center of Osaka University On April 1st 2017 by Fujitsu Ltd. And Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. In order to develop next generation cloud platform which supports a low carbon society in the future, we aim to develop energy saving technologies and security technologies while train Osaka University students as a main target to become next generation engineers.
FCRAL develops innovative technologies for refrigerant transfer without energy and low energy consuming AI platform in pursuance of decreasing CO2 emission of data centers which is created by using cloud. To realize this, we will also develop various security technologies which are required for controlling facilities remotely. In addition, we develop human resources capable of responding flexibly to the needs of society by training researchers to establish priority issues and investigate their solutions based on Proof of Concept.
Furthermore, with low energy consuming processor technologies such as DLU, the AI processor developed especially for deep learning by Fujitsu and Proof of Concept conducted with a vast amount of experimental data owned by Osaka University, we develop energy saving technologies using the energy consumption data gained from an actual data center. We believe it’s possible to create energy saving and low carbon cloud or AI platform of next generation in the prospect of rapid increase in energy consumption.
